Please note that while my current rec policy is to try and include story warnings, I make no guarantees. Generally speaking, there's little of a dark or violent nature to warn for in these stories, but...caveat lector. If you believe addition content information should be added to the rec, leave a comment below.
astolat (astolat on LJ): "Queen of Spades" (Bond/M...Casino Royale, Bond may be able to read women perfectly, but M knows Bond. Perfect voices.)
beederiffic: "Jagged Little Pill" (Skyfall. Q/James Bond. "Q's first impression of Bond isn't particularly favourable. It's bound to change." I haven't really jumped on the fandom Q/Bond bandwagon, but if all Q/Bond stories were like this, I'd be right there at the front of the wagon.)
epistolic: "Permafrost" (Skyfall. Bond/Q. "007 is a cold-blooded killer, except when he isn’t." A very interesting take on the development of a relationship between Bond and Q, set as it is well out of London and in completely inhospitable surroundings. Really well written and evocative.)
frackin_sweet "The Night Visitor " (Pre-Skyfall. James/M. "M's holiday plans didn't include a voicemail breakup, or Bond showing up unannounced by way of the window." James being compassionate in a way that's perfectly in character...and he has excellent taste.)
Froggimus Rex (froggimus_rex on LJ): "If Headaches Persist, Shoot Your Agent" (Casino Royale - 2006. M, James. "Bond's a headache even at the best of times, but he's M's headache." Office politics as foreplay.)
Lonelywalker: "Gifts" ("Usually Bond and M save the world. But sometimes, just sometimes, they go shopping." Starts as holiday fluff, but ends as something more. Very believable.)
Lonelywalker (lonelywalker on LJ): "A View from the Sidelines" (Casino Royale - 2006. M's husband, M, Bond. "M's husband meets Bond. British hospitality ensues." A fascinating, if lowkey, look at M's life from the pov of her husband...who, in another era, would be her wife. Content info: Adultery, if you worry about that with fictional characters.)
Musegaarid (musegaarid on LJ): "Falling Without a Parachute" (Crossover with Good Omens. Bond/Crowley. In the summer of 1955, Bond is on a train to Zurich when, by chance, he shares a table in the dining car with a dark-haired man wearing sunglasses. Excellent voices and a perfect blending of the two universes.)
paperclipbitch: "so you were never a saint" (Skyfall. Q, Eve Moneypenny, Bill Tanner, James Bond. "I think Bond’s trying to be your friend,” Eve tells him. / “…well,” Q says slowly, “this is a new and disturbing development.”" A clever, hip, mostly perfect story about friendship. All sorts of friendships.)
pwrofbauer (moofoot on LJ): "someone to come home to" (Casino Royale - 2006. M, James. "Bond may be a lone wolf in the field, but even the strongest men need a woman in their life sometimes. (Even if only to make you a sandwich and pour you a glass of wine or three.)" A really lovely, gentle homecoming story. Would M really have time to do this? Unlikely, but I could not possibly care less. *g*)
Telanu: the "Sharing the Road" series (Skyfall. M/Silva, M/Bond. "" Three stories are in the recently completed series: the first two very plotty while the third is a perfect coda to the series. The relationship between Bond and M is excellent, deep with unspoken emotions. Really great voices, and some smart - sometimes funny, but never clumsy - James Bond meta, you could probably call it? Warnings for rape in the first story and canonical violence at a variety of points throughout the series.)
torakowalski "With Your Hand In My Hand We'll Still Stand" (James Bond - Skyfall. Q/Bill Tanner. "The crisis is over but no one at MI6 is sleeping yet." Post-film, and as the author notes: "This fic contains spoilers for Skyfall. Trust me, you want to go into this film spoiler-free.")
astolat (astolat on LJ): "Queen of Spades" (Bond/M...Casino Royale, Bond may be able to read women perfectly, but M knows Bond. Perfect voices.)

Date: 2012-12-30 05:53 pm (UTC)(most of these are pretty old, but when a fandom gets ten-plus recs, it moves out of the misc category and gets a page of its own. *g*)
