Please note that most of these story recommendations were made before I reconsidered my warnings policy (i.e., before I decided to include warnings). Generally speaking, there's little of a dark or violent nature to warn for in these stories, but...caveat lector.

Aria (ariastar on LJ): "Doctor Who AU Season Four (A prologue and 13 full episodes offering an alternate view of the as-yet-unaired fourth season of the new series of Doctor Who in this AU, the Doctor has left Earth with the Master still in his charge, Martha has completed her medical studies, Jack is back at Torchwood, with his relieved, albeit vaguely suspicious team. Smart and creative and - apart from a stray missing word here and there - very well written. Plus? This series is unconstrained by the BBC's apparent no-sex-for-the-Doctor rules.)

Angharad (athousandwinds on LJ): "The New Adventures of Supertemp" (Donna, Doctor [Ten]. ""You're wonderful," he says. "You're special. You don't believe me, but it's true. You're Donna Noble."" Post-Journey's End and...just right.)

AstroGirl (astrogirl2 on LJ): "Old Soldiers" (Gen centering on Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart during the Tenth Doctor era (although Benton makes an appearance as well). The Brigadier is long retired, but finds he's unable to "just sit by and watch." Works perfectly with the current timeline...and very good characterizations.)

Basingstoke (basingstoke on LJ/DW): "Bloody Nature" (Nine, Martha, Jack, Others. "After the Time War, the recently regenerated Doctor met another doctor, and they had some adventures together. Then they met the Family of Blood and things went pear-shaped." An AU - if anything in DW can properly be said to be an AU - set in Family of Blood's 1926, but where Martha gets to be Martha in this old/new world and in which the Doctor - the Ninth incarnation with that name - gets to be...well, you'll see. Excellent insights into the points of connection between Martha and Nine.)

BlackEyedGirl (black_eyedgirl on LJ): "Not All of the Pieces are Blue" (Donna, Eleven, Amy, Rory. "The Doctor pays a visit to Donna (with a little urging from Amy). She's not in the most forgiving of moods. Spoilers through 'The Big Bang.')" An excellent fix for what happened to Donna's memories at the end of her season.)

Casira (casirafics on LJ): "roundabout" (Nine/Rose. "It's said that the Earth turns at just over one thousand miles per hour. Someone suspended above the equator would see 25,000 miles flash by in the course of a day, from ocean to land and sea again, zooming past her field of vision at incredible speed.[...]It would quite likely drive her insane. She's not meant to know these kinds of things." Spoilers for all of season one.)

Cryptile (cryptile on LJ): "Downtime" (Ten, Rose, Jackie, Mickey...with some Rose/Mickey floating in the background. A clever and funny and serious look - yes, all at the same time - at the aftershocks of regeneration. Wonderfully in voice and very believable.)

Doyle (doyle_sb4 on LJ) :"Just Impediment" (Crossover of Doctor Who [10th Doctor] and Blackadder. Gen. "Queen Elizabeth I is marrying a Mr William Shakespeare (no relation) and there's a mysterious blue box in the alley outside Mrs Miggins' pie shop; Edmund Blackadder is on the case." Perfectly voiced in both fandoms and very clever.)

hollimichele (holli on LJ/DW): "Go and Catch a Falling Star" (Crossover with Lord Peter Wimsey - Dorothy Sayers. Doctor, 'The Ponds', Peter Wimsey, Harriet Vane Wimsey, Others. ""No," Harriet Vane said, having given it some thought. "I don't suppose I do believe in spontaneous human combustion."" A perfect blend of the two canons...and how much do I wish, now, that Peter and Harriet could be the Doctor's companions, at least for a little while.)

L.M. Griffin a.k.a Wren (commodoresexual on LJ): "Here Come the Drums", "Devil Inside", and "Domesticity". (Harold/Lucy Saxon. Written before the season three finale. Perfectly voiced.)

lonelywalker: "The Night is Darker Now" (Ianto/Jack. This pairing seems so obvious on the surface, but this story is one of the very few to get the tone perfectly right. A story of loneliness and connection, beautifully written.)

Marylane: "Worlds in Conjunction" (Ten/Rose, Martha. "The Doctor makes a slight miscalculation." Beautifully written, with a wonderfully strong Rose.)

Mel (mellacita on LJ): "Everywhere is Walking Distance, If You Have the Time" ([Torchwood] Jack/Ianto, Gwen/Rhys, Jack/OFC, Jack/OMC, Jack/OAC. "A lot of things happen in a thousand years. Some terrible, some small, some wonderful, some enormous. Here's a look at a few of them." Excellent post-CoE story.)

Mundungus42 (mundungus42 on LJ): "The Curious Case of the High Lama" (BBC Sherlock and Doctor Who crossover. Sherlock, Doctor (11), others. "Two men, both presumed dead, seek enlightenment and absolution." Precisely how the meeting of these two men would go. Probably. *g*)

perryvic and shewhoguards: "This Is How The Universe Ends" (Crossover with Discworld. DEATH/Captain Jack Harkness/Universe. "EXCUSE ME, he said, not impolitely. BUT YOU ARE HOLDING UP THE END OF THE UNIVERSE." The end of time comes, but DEATH isn't quite finished. The irresistible force meets the immovable object - and the result is both funny and angsty.)

scarlet_key (scarlet_key on LJ): "Treasures of Lost Gallifrey" (Nine, Jack, Rose. "The Doctor, Jack, and Rose stop in a trade and resort town. During a shopping expedition, the Doctor finds something extraordinary, something rare, something that makes him very, very angry...." Strong characterizations and spot on in terms of emotional believability. Jack pov.)

Temaris (temaris on LJ): "Everything Changes (And you gotta be ready)" (Cross-recced in SGA/Doctor Who/Torchwood. McKay/Sheppard, technically, but reads like a very good way. "Sheppard goes missing and Rodney moves heaven and earth to find him." Smart, engaging, and treats all three canons - and all individual characters - honestly and fairly.)

Ygrawn (ygrawn on LJ): "Beyond Your Ken" (Eleven/Amy. "Amy supposes it’s entirely appropriate in the context of their relationship that a conversation that started off silly might end up being the most important conversation she’s ever had with the Doctor." Excellent voices, and...the Doctor isn't at all easy.)
