bethbethbeth: (Avengers Renner (daxcat79))

I swear, I swear, I shall be consistent in reccing from now on! I have a backlog of about 130 recs, and here are the first seven...

ironspy: "The Devil in Me" (Avengers. Bruce/Clint. After the Manhattan invasion, Clint Barton is just about holding it together. Not a 'fix-it,' C/C fans, but this is one of those rare Bruce/Clint stories that I really love. Long - 88K - and very interesting)

Kathar: "Item: One Archer, Slightly Battered " (Avengers/Comics. Phil/Clint. Clint takes a fearless inventory of his body, like every morning. Phil appreciates it, like many mornings. Then it all goes pear-shaped. Or maybe robot lamprey-shaped An established relationship fic related to Marvel's Secret Avengers and honestly, I think the story works best if you're familiar with that story-line, but the author does a good job of making it work without any comics knowledge. Do read the end notes though!)

Mikey (mikes_grrl): "Custom Job" (Avengers. Phil/Clint. Clint was eleven the first time he helped Barney with a grand theft auto... / Wherein Clint learns to love archery, cars, and a dangerous, mysterious guy possibly named Phil who might work for the Russian mob but probably doesn't. A contemporary AU, much of which is set in an auto shop - but still with a healthy dose of spy vs spy!)

scifigrl47: "Hollow Your Bones Like a Bird's" (Avengers. Phil/Clint. Pre-Steve/Tony. Part 6 of the series: n Which Tony Stark Builds Himself Some Friends (But His Family Was Assigned by Nick Fury) In the wake of the Chitauri invasion, Clint Barton wakes up in a world that he very nearly had a hand in destroying. And confronting a loss he might not be able to cope with. / The Avengers always needed something to avenge, but once the crisis is past, what keeps them together? A long - 95K and excellent post-movie Toasterverse fix-it, sub-titled: "Clint Barton's Guide to Avenger Watching."

shadowen: "Weapon of Choice" (Avengers. Phil/Clint. Part 5 of the Line of Sight series. The best laid plans don't count for much. Warning for some graphic violence. Good mission story with excellent pacing - and particularly good characterizations, which don't just focus on the positive sides of the characters.)

shell: "Behind the Curtain" (Avengers. Phil/Clint. Phil had a lot of secrets. When they were younger, when he was still living at home, he'd shared them all with her. / When he left the Rangers, she'd expected him to join the FBI or CIA or something, but he calmly told her he'd taken a job as a government accountant. Yeah, he was good at math and paperwork, very organized, but did he think she was stupid? Part 9 of the Long Range Reconnaissance series. Established relationship and...Clint meets the Coulson family for the first time - i.e., one of my favorite things - and they really don't think either man is an accountant.)

t_fic (topaz): "First Year Down" (Avengers. Clint/Natasha, Pepper/Tony, Pepper/Steve/Tony. It′s hard to believe, Steve thinks, but it′s been a year since he woke up, a year since he first saw the New York his city had become. If this is relevant to you, Phil's alive! Team-building - of a sort. Definitely relationship building>)

As I've noted before, I will clearly never catch up with old stories. If you have a favorite story (your own or somebody else's) that you think I might have missed and it's in a fandom that I've recced before (see my main recs page, which includes links to all the individual major fandoms and a miscellaneous fandoms page), feel free to leave a link below. Most loved at the moment are stories from one of the following fandoms: Avengers, Doctor Who, Due South, Harry Potter, Hawkeye, James Bond, Lewis, Sherlock Holmes in all varieties, or White Collar, but everything is welcome.

Special Note to Authors: If you're writing in a fandom set in the NYC area (Avengers, White Collar, etc), and you're looking for a beta for location-related issues in particular, feel free to email me at the gmail address on the profile page.
